The Little Moments
Very rarely am I one to publicly voice my opinions about the ongoing events in the world, but I think it is safe to say that things have been very polarizing lately. Due to being in health care (Registered Nurse) as my main profession, my patience for all the differing opinions finally ran out a few weeks ago. The world was just getting too loud.
During a particularly rough shift I stated that I was burnt out and needed a road trip just to get away. Another fellow Registered Nurse was just in earshot of my off the cuff comment and he quickly piped up “Where are we going, and when.” Within five minutes, we had a date and location picked.
The morning of the road trip started early. It was still dark and the morning had a crisp fall bite to it. I hopped in his car and we were off. As we were driving to the photography location we covered many typical topics of conversation such as sports, dream vehicles we both wanted, etc. and in no time we were at our destination.
Being that we are both photography buffs, we picked a location where we could capture some amazing landscape photography.
The funniest part about the trip, or maybe the most needed part, was that despite our type A personalities we were able to let the control and the pressures of the medical system during a global pandemic go and just relax. We had tons of time to just sit and wait for the best light for photos. So we sat and sat and we didn't care. In those moments just sitting there, no one was dying, no family was losing a loved one, life was just simple. And for the first time in a long time I could breathe. I felt calm.
After a long while we broke the silence simply by saying, “wow that view makes the world a better place.”
So for me the point of this blog and my photography is simple: slow down, enjoy the moments, the world really isn’t that bad of a place.
Until next time,
Ryan
