Prairie Crocus and Vintage Vibes
This engagement session was one that just fell together and turned into one of my most creative shoots. All I knew about this couple was that they liked the badlands, dinosaurs and that she was in a rock band. We met at Tyra ( Drumheller’s world largest Dino) and snapped some fun/silly photos and then we were off to the Hoodoos…
From the moment we left World’s Largest Dinosaur behind, the energy shifted. The laughter settled into something quieter, more intentional. As we made our way out toward the Drumheller Hoodoos, you could feel it—the anticipation, the connection, the story starting to take shape.
And then… it clicked.
That’s where the couple’s true fire took off. Once the nerves melted away, everything became effortless. The way they moved together, the way they looked at each other—it was the kind of connection you don’t have to direct. You just step back, frame it, and let it unfold.
Complete smoke show.
The contrast was unreal—in the best way. Her rocker edge, bold and unapologetic, paired with his grounded presence. Vintage-inspired tones layered into the raw, rugged textures of the Badlands. And then, almost unexpectedly, the softness of prairie flowers weaving through it all, adding just enough gentleness to balance the intensity.
It’s that blend I’m always chasing—where two worlds collide and create something entirely new.
We wandered, climbed, paused, and chased the light as it dipped lower across the valley. Every corner of the Hoodoos gave us something different—sharp shadows, glowing ridgelines, quiet pockets of stillness. And through it all, they stayed locked into each other, like the rest of the world had faded out.
Those are the sessions that stick with you.
Not because everything was perfectly planned—but because it wasn’t. Because it allowed space for something real, something a little wild, something completely them.
This is why we do what we do.
To take a place as iconic as Drumheller and make it feel like it belongs entirely to the two people standing in it. To blend your story with the landscape, your energy with the light, your love with the moment.
And honestly… I’m still not over this one.
If you’re dreaming up something a little different for your engagement session—something that feels like you, but elevated, unexpected, and just a little bit bold—we’re all in.
